Good morning and a happy Sunday to you,
It’s a misty morning in north London and I’ve just spent some time being still and taking in what has been a huge and significant week for me. There are lots of exciting changes on the horizon, which I’ll share another time.
I hope you are having a nourishing weekend, with plenty of rest and space for yourself.
This week sees the return of the life advice edition, which aligns with the questions I ask on my podcast Life, Oh Life. This time I’ve spoken to intuitive artist Corinne Peacock who I have connected with through Donna Lancaster’s Deepening Into Life community. I love Corinne’s bold and colourful paintings and after buying loads of her beautiful cards, which you may have received if you know me, I treated myself to a painting earlier this year that I particularly connected with called Dance Of Life. Here it is.
Here are Corinne’s answers to my questions:
What inspired you to start painting?
I started painting when I was navigating through trauma which was triggered by the pandemic. I was experiencing deep emotional pain, which was also impacting all aspects of my life. Painting offered me a respite from the pain in my head & body. I found that everything else dropped away when I was painting and it gave me respite from my internal world. I paint intuitively and my paintings say more than I could ever express in words.
What’s the best advice anyone’s ever given you?
I have had so much good advice over the years but I suppose one of the most helpful that underpins everything is about getting still enough to listen. It’s easy to try to busy/plan your way out/through life but actually staying still and listening between the silence is hard to do. But what I’ve found is the best answers come this way.
What advice would you give yourself if you could go back?
I would say that no matter how bad things seem there’s always a lesson to be learned. Everything you do or don’t do is important. All you can ever do is make choices where you are at. The biggest lessons come from the toughest times so just try to remember that.
What's your best advice for other people?
Stop trying to live someone else’s life or by someone else’s rules. Focus on making your life the best you want it to be. Listen to your intuition and let that guide you to your own path.
Thank you so much Corinne! Corinne sells her paintings, cards and other offerings via he website, Instagram, and at fairs and exhibitions in and around Suffolk. If you like her work, do consider buying a painting or a card and supporting an artist.
