All the joyful stories coming from Tokyo
I haven't even watched the Olympics, but they're still sparking joy
Hello and a happy Friday to you,
I have to admit I haven’t properly watched any of the Olympics this year. I am too busy looking after cats. I am however, being a bit of a joy tourist by enjoying the uplifting stories coming out of Tokyo.
From Simone Biles winning bronze after being open about her mental health to Sky Brown becoming Britain’s youngest Olympic medallist, I am here for it.
I am also here for Tom Daley’s knitting. So. Much. Joy.
And of course, there was the brilliant presenter Alex Scott standing up to the stuffy Lord who criticised the way she spoke.
She added: “A quick one to any young kids who may not have a certain kind of privilege in life. Never allow judgments on your class, accent, or appearance hold you back. Use your history to write your story. Keep striving, keep shining & don’t change for anyone.”
Oh and one more for luck: I loved this story about two competitors in the men’s high jump agreeing to share the gold.
In personal uplifting news aside from medals, I am now a proud auntie to three niblings, as shown in the photo at the top.
Have a restful weekend and please send me good news stories.
